Seminar on "Complexity of Eukaryotic Genomes Peeked Through Next-Generation Sequencing Data"
Thursday, 24 January 2013,  3:00 -  4:30
 Hits : 3954

The development in the field of high-throughput DNA sequencing holds tremendous

potential for disease diagnosis, treatment, synthetic biology and agriculture. With the

chemistry to generate sequence data using high-throughput assays largely taken care of,

the challenge is shifted from ‘data generation’ phase to ‘data management, analysis and

interpretation’ phase. Managing this data deluge, combined with biological interpretation and

follow up validation studies, remain the talking points in key next-generation sequencing

meetings. During the course of my talk, I shall describe two examples, one from disease

biology and one from synthetic biology, where high-throughput data-driven biology present

exciting potential to change the way we look at biological systems.

Location : Conference Hall, C-MMACS New Bldg.

Speaker: Binay Panda, Ganti Labs, Bio-IT Centre, Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology, Bangalore
