Seminar on "Novel Functional Applications of Biomedical Ultrasound Imaging"
Thursday, 31 January 2013,  3:00 -  4:30
 Hits : 4212

Biomedical ultrasound technology is seeing rapid advances in recent years with the

development of high resolution imaging transducers, new imaging modes, sophisticated

quantitative methods and the miniaturization of instrumentation. In this talk, I will mention

how our research group has leveraged these advances and brought a novel engineering

perspective to investigate clinical and biomedical research questions of public health

significance involving functional disability. Our research group focuses on developing

methods for understanding the interrelationships between soft tissue structure, dynamic

function, and vascular physiology, and their pathological alterations in different disease

conditions. I will also briefly discuss how this research approach is improving our

understanding of musculo-skeletal function in chronic gait related disorders and, ongoing

research extending these methods to portable applications to improve point-of-care health

technology.
